The Law of Creation

In my mind, the Law of Creation speaks to a powerful law we can make use of in our lives, while my Peak Performance Formula speaks to a specific method to make that law work to our advantage.

What is the Law of Creation?

To truly unlock the divinity you have within yourself, you need to master four creative principles that transform your dreams into your reality. Together, these four creative principles are the Law of Creation.

  • See: Learn to visualize your desire so clearly and in so much detail that it begins to feel real. Practice pushing away all thoughts that detract from your grand vision.
  • Feel: Open your heart and mind to truly be able to feel the gratitude you have for having made your dream come true and begin to positively expect it to be so.
  • Say: Speak only words that work constructively toward reaching your dream. Avoid words of scarcity, negativity, or distraction.
  • Do: Follow the wisdom of your core values and character, acting only in ways that align with your inner divinity. Seek for guidance from your inner deity and immediately follow those promptings.

God Follows the Law of Creation

God used this law. Have you ever noticed the pattern in Genesis? It is so interesting to me to look at it this way; that God created spiritually before creating physically.  Let’s look at Genesis 1:3-4 in the King James Version of the Bible.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Genesis 1:3-4, Holy Bible (KJV)
  • See: God saw the light. (v4)
  • Feel: that it was good (v4)
  • Say: God said, Let there be light (v3)
  • Do: God divided the light from the darkness. (v4)

That pattern is repeated throughout the creation story in Genesis.

Make the Law of Creation Work For You

A friend of mine talks about the Law of Creation on her podcast (you should totally give it a listen!). One thing in particular that she says has really stuck with me.

There is a great difference between feeling like life is happening TO you, and life is happening THROUGH you.  To steal a scriptural phrase, one is acting for yourself, and the other is being acted upon.

Brooke Snow, brookesnow.com

For years of my life, I felt that life was happening to me. I was totally asleep at the wheel and didn’t even realize it. Finally, as my body got more and more unhealthy, and I was more and more dissatisfied with where I was in life, I began taking steps to wake up.

Learning about the Law of Creation was something that really helped snap me out of that drowsy mindset and set me on a path where I am in charge of where life goes, rather than the other way around.

Let’s look at the four parts of the Law of Creation.

To enter the magic of your life, you must become aware of the four creative tools that turn each of your desires into your visible results. These four resources that will allow you to materialize miracles in the world are your thoughts, your feelings, your words and your deeds.

See.

The see portion is where you build your vision of what you want to accomplish, where you begin to plant your desire into your subconscious mind.

A few notes about the subconscious mind. It is always active and always working! And because it is always active and working, it is always producing actions to generate what is inside it. It cannot accept or reject what it is fed, or determine the difference between reality and imaginary — all it can do is produce actions to create the image it is given.

A couple thoughts from Napoleon Hill from his book Think and Grow Rich.

Remember, your subconscious mind functions voluntarily, whether you make any effort to influence it or not.

The subconscious mind will not remain idle! If you fail to plant desires in your subconscious mind, it will feed upon the thoughts which reach out as the result of your neglect.

Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, Chapter 12: The Subconscious Mind

Can you see why it is so critical to create your vision? Use the power of your conscious mind to create the image that you feed to your subconscious mind! We can use our conscious minds, our educated mind, our intellect, to choose what we create. We can accept or reject images that come into our conscious mind. So all the superficiality from social media, all the negativity from the world (or ourselves), or all the garbage trying to pull you down can be rejected and not even reach the subconscious mind!

Feel.

Again, from Napoleon.

The subconscious acts first on the dominating desires which have been mixed with emotional feeling, such as faith.

These emotions, or feeling impulses, may be likened to yeast in a loaf of bread, because they constitute the action element, which transforms thought impulses from the passive to the active state. This may one understand why thought impulses, which have been well mixed with emotion, are acted upon more readily than thought impulses originating in “cold reason.”

Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, Chapter 12: The Subconscious Mind

Your subconscious mind is your emotional mind. Again, it has no power to accept or reject anything that is fed to it. It is always running, always taking action based on the paradigm it is programmed with.

Bob Proctor describes paradigms as “a program that has been installed in your subconscious mind. It is a mental program that has almost exclusive control over your habitual behavior. (see Paradigms 101)”

I learned recently that over 60% of what we do in a day is habitual, so you can see how much effect our paradigm has on our lives! Since the paradigm is the program that is running in our subconscious, it says that the habits we form are crucial in what actions our subconscious produces — and whether those actions are in support or defiance of what we desire to create in our lives.

So how can we change our paradigm? Napoleon told us — “the subconscious acts first on the dominating desires which have been mixed with emotional feeling.”

As we create the image of what we want to create in our life in our conscious minds, we need to begin to feel that image as well. We begin to live as if we already had what we desired, and as we do so, it creates a powerful image that our subconscious just can’t help but work to produce for us.

I love this quote from Mahatma Gandhi that says this in a different way.

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.”

Mahatma Gandhi

“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.” Beautiful. And it comes from us

Say.

Words are powerful. They can transform and build as easily as they can tear down and destroy.

Robin Sharma shared a practice of his where he repeats words to himself. Why? He said this,

Often, I repeat words. Yep, strange, I’ll agree.

I’ll just say them aloud. Or write them in my journal. Or sing them to the ceiling. To infuse my subconscious realm and reprogram my faulty programming.  That’s why I do this thing that I do.

Robin Sharma

What we say is powerful, and our words carry meaning. Another quote I love from Robin Sharma is “Words mean what words say” (The Everyday Hero Manifesto, Chapter 14).

I’m working with my extremely talented teenagers to learn this principle. They (as many teenagers do) have an unhealthy habit of using words suck as sick, cracked, or wicked to represent things that they or their friends do that are incredible. Too many times when I call them out on it the response I get back is, “it doesn’t even matter, dad.”

But for me it really does matter!

Those same teenagers will then make a mistake in sports or crash off a ski jump and begin to tell themselves and everyone around them how much they suck and are terrible players or skiers and how they don’t even know how to do anything. Why do they get so hard on themselves and have such negative self talk?

Because that is how they talk amongst their friends (even if sarcastically).

To truly make the image of your dream you are now emotionally attached to a reality, it is vitally important that you focus your speech surrounding it to be positive, uplifting, encouraging, and forward-thinking. When you begin to speak about it (or yourself) with words that destroy hope, damage belief, and tear down confidence it produces feelings that your dream is out of reach and that you are not capable of such great things. And those feelings get attached to the image feeding your subconscious.

By focusing your speech in all areas of your life to only uplift, strengthen, and support everyone around you, it also bolsters the feelings attached to the vision being planted in your subconscious mind.

Do.

Finally, the real-world part of the Law of Creation. The good news is, at least in my mind, that this is the easy part!

Let me explain.

Why do so many of us make New Year resolutions, only to fail? I believe it is because of our paradigm. Their subconscious can’t help but run the program that it has, so it yields the same results.

When our resolutions, or our goals, are only focused on the doing, we cannot change the paradigm. Only by making use of the entire Law of Creation will we be able to change our paradigm, and thus change our results.

Another quote from Sharma.

Small daily seemingly insignificant improvements when done consistently over time lead to stunning results.

Robin Sharma

That sounds incredibly similar to one of my favorite scriptures from the Book of Mormon.

Behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass;

Alma 37:6, Book of Mormon

For me, the doing part of the Law of Creation is the easy part.

Because once you have formed the vision of your desire,

…have become emotionally attached to it enough that the subconscious can’t help but process that image,

…and are speaking words to build up that vision,

…the action part will just come naturally because you will know exactly what to do.

To truly create what we desire in life, to truly make life happen through us, we must follow the principles laid out in the Law of Creation. The changes we see at first will be small, seemingly insignificant. But as we stick to the course, continue feeding our subconscious with the image we desire, those small changes will continually add up until finally great things are brought to pass.
